Toronto native Alexander “Alex” Tapscott is one of the most accomplished authors in the bitcoin space. Tapscott’s best-known work is a book called “Blockchain Revolution: How The Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing, Money Business, and the World,” which he co-authored with his father, Don Tapscott. The father and son collaboration explores how blockchain technology will expand what we can achieve online and who can participate in said achievements. The book ended up being a Toronto Star bestseller.

When Alex Tapscott isn’t writing bestsellers, the Amherst College grad serves as the CEO for his blockchain investment company, NetBlock Global. He and his father Don also founded The Blockchain Research Institute. The institute is focused on exploring strategic opportunities using blockchain tech.

For his blockchain-related work, Tapscott was awarded the Digital Thinking Award from Thinkers50.com.

What started for me as a bitcoin hobby quickly became a blockchain obsession. In fact, the more deeply I immersed myself in it, the more convinced I became of the technology’s massive impact on the future of the world economy.

Fun Fact

Alex Tapscott was an accomplished rugby competitor in his youth. He played for his native country, as a member of the Canadian Men’s Rugby Under-21 team in 2006 and 2007. The scrappy blockchain enthusiast even helped his team beat the Irish Colleges 20-7 back in November of 2006.

The former All-Star made headlines recently when he announced his affiliation with the cryptocurrency PotCoin. PotCoin launched back in 2014 and was created in order to help provide the legal cannabis industry with a secure way to send and receive payments.

Tatiana Moroz is a singer-songwriter, Bitcoin Magazine contributor, and cryptocurrency enthusiast. In fact, she even has a hit single called “The Bitcoin Jingle.”

The musician took her love of cryptocurrency to the next level by creating her very own bitcoin-based cryptocurrency known as Tatianacoin. According to Moroz’s website, “Tatianacoin is the first ever musical artist coin.” The coin can be used to purchase her songs, merchandise, and even a private concert from Moroz herself.

Hip-hop recording artist Nas has sold over 25 million records worldwide over the course of his career thus far.  Songs like “If I Ruled the World” and “N.Y. State of Mind” have helped him become a legend in the music industry.

Nas, whose given name is Nasir Jones, was first introduced to Bitcoin by his associates, venture capitalists Ben Horowitz and Chris Dixon. Since that time, Jones has opted to invest in the website Coinbase, a popular site where folks can purchase cryptocurrency. Moreover, the chart-topping musician also began purchasing bitcoin back in 2013.

While Jones is best known for his musical talents, he is also the founder of Queensbridge Venture Partners, a company which “invests in technology that transforms the way we live.” Queensbridge has invested in popular projects like the ride-share company Lyft.

Receiving an endorsement from a celebrity and businessman the caliber of Nasir Jones certainly helps boost cryptocurrency’s profile.
