Last December we published an article entitled Ethereum Delirium: 3 Predictions For Ether’s Price In The Coming Years. The piece featured some fairly bullish Ether price predictions from various writers and websites involved in the crypto space – while also providing a little background info about Ethereum.
However, roughly 6 months have gone by since Ethereum Delirium was released. Since that time some high profile figures have offered their take on what the future holds for the popular altcoin. Moreover, as folks in the crypto community know, a lot can happen in the space in half a year’s time. So some fresh forecasts are in order.
At press time, a single Ether (ETH) is trading for around $469. It is also the 2nd most valuable cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalization. That being said, there are some who believe ETH is just getting started.
Note: This article is not intended to be investment advice. Readers are strongly encouraged to do their own research before investing in any cryptocurrency.
Alexis Ohanian Sr
Perhaps the biggest name to give their take on Ether is Alexis Ohanian Sr. He is a tech entrepreneur who is best known as the co-founder of the social news website Reddit. As of last February, Reddit had approximately 542 million monthly visitors – making it the #6 most visited website in the world.
The 35-year-old Brooklyn native made headlines last May when he boldly predicted that a single Ether would be trading for an eye-popping $15,000, by the end of 2018. In a recent interview, Ohanian told Fortune.com,
“I still hold a little bit of Bitcoin, and I think it has such mindshare that it will continue to be a store of value. I’m most bullish about Ethereum simply because people are actually building on it.”
He went on to say,
“At the end of the year, Bitcoin will be at $20,000. And Ethereum will be at $15,000. Great, now people can call me out if I’m wrong.”
He would later claim that he misspoke and meant to say ETH will be at $1,500, as opposed $15,000, which is still over 3 times its current price point.
While Ohanian didn’t provide a great deal of insight to support his Ether price predictions, having someone of his stature speak so highly of the 2nd most popular altcoin can only be viewed as a positive for Ethereum enthusiasts.
Entrepreneur Nigel Green is the founder and CEO of deVere Group (spelled with a lowercase D). According to the company website, deVere Group is “the world’s leading independent international financial consultancy.”
In an e-mail to the financial news site Market Watch, Green stated that ETH could go as high as $2,500 as 2018 comes to a close. He also added that the price could continue to rise in 2019 and 2020 – though he didn’t provide specific numbers.
As far as his reasoning, Green explained,
“This general upswing will be fueled by three mains drivers. First, more and more platforms are using Ethereum as a means of trading. Second, the increased use of smart contracts by Ethereum. And third, the decentralization of cloud computing.”
Jen Grayson is the CEO of Powered By Neureal — a blockchain-based artificial intelligence solutions provider. She is also a Blockchain Academy board member who was named one of the “Top 8 Women in Crypto” by Chipin.com.
“The platform is solid, it’s proven, and I simply don’t see a big challenger with anything viable enough to overtake the space that Ethereum occupies”
The CEO went on to say,
“It’s going to take something major to get me to move off my bullish forecast for ETH – even with the major correction in March.”
Given her credentials, Grayson’s bullish stance could offer ether investors some additional peace-of-mind.
