Blockchain A – Z covers all of the important topics you need to know if you’re just getting into blockchain! We go letter by letter with each episode defining a specific topic. By the end of the series, you’ll know your blockchain ABCs! Today’s topic is the Internet of Things, aka IoT.

What is the Internet of Things, or IoT?

The Internet of Things is the interconnection via the Internet of computing devices embedded in everyday objects. Thus, enabling them to send and receive data. For example, controlling your thermostat through your phone via WiFi.

It offers limitless potential, but most of these everyday devices do not have sufficient security protocols. Pairing the IoT with a blockchain may solve these security issues. This is obviously huge in scope, but with things like smart appliances and self-driving cars, it is on the close horizon.
